The engagement, called Paka Kotha, Paan Chini, or simply the ring ceremony depending on the family, is the first event most couples photograph together. It is also the one most often under-covered: smaller guest list, smaller room, and a decision made late because it feels less important than the wedding. This guide covers what engagement photography in Bangladesh actually involves, and how to get it right in a crowded living room.

What the Engagement Ceremony Involves
Engagement formats vary widely between families. Some are a formal sit-down between both families with a written agreement; others are a short ring exchange followed by dinner. The photography plan has to match the format, so the first question at consultation is always which one you are having.

- ✓Leave a path to the couple: guests naturally close in, and a photographer with no route gets only the backs of heads

Timing and How Long to Book
Engagements are short. Two to three hours of coverage is usually enough, but the start time matters more than the duration.

- ✓Afternoon events with window light photograph noticeably better than late-night ones
- ✓Allow 15 minutes after the ring exchange for couple portraits, while everyone is still dressed and happy
